the show. by orange

So you know that I really enjoy Greg Laswell - from here, here, here and here.  Well this weekend, Greg Laswell was at Tractor.  The night was fantastic.  He is one of those artists that sounds even better in person and interacts genuinely with the crowd the whole night.  The evening was filled with:

delicious burgers and sweet potato fries from King's Hardware in Ballard
lots of laughter
good friends
pomegranate 5 hour energy
and of course, amazing music

til next time greg.  thank you!!

music wednesday. by orange

It's been awhile since I've posted on music.  Recently, I started trying this thing called Pandora and it just so happens it has me musically inspired.  I know...I'm way behind on the times with Pandora.  Better late than never right?

This song that popped up on my pandora reminded me of this post.  I always forget that I love instrumental pieces.

Other music that I'm currently a bit obsessed with:

1) Broken Bells: The Ghost Inside. This sums up my feelings on this song: "I can't help but dance with myself" - stated by chaseduran on YouTube

They are coming to Seattle soon! 5/25 - Showbox at the Market

2) But of course - Greg Laswell.  His new CD hits stores and the internets on 5/4 - Take a Bow

However, right now you can listen to ALL the new tracks at http://www.greglaswell.com/.  Enjoy!!  Greg is also coming to Seattle soon.  He will be playing at Tractor Tavern in Ballard on 5/8.  Tickets are only $12!  You can enter to win to meet Greg here.

it's a slow monday. by orange

sorry ladies and gents for the delayed monday morning post.  it's been a rougher than usual monday morning.  due to the following (i think):

1. still tired from the weekend of guests, fun and Jersey Shore Par-Tay (pics to come soon!)
2. it's Monday, they are always rough to some degree
3. worked from home on Friday which takes me a bit out of my "work" element - thus really "getting back to reality" today.
4. needed two lattes this morning and i'm still sleepy.  where's my 5 hour energy when i need it?!
5. it's so damn nice outside - makes working inside incredibly dull

so, to inspire me this morning, the husband sent me a fantastic link which i would like to share with all of you.  it's a website called "Direct Current Music" - i had not heard/seen it before but am definitely going to be adding it to my favorites.

most of you know, i heart Greg Laswell - big time.  if you don't know this about me, check out here, here and here.

well, this link that the husband sent me, included one of his new songs due out on an Album titled "Take A Bow."  It's scheduled to debut on May 4th (way too far away!!)

check this out: (and enjoy!!): Take Everything (with Ingrid Michaelson)

Morning Music. by orange

Over the weekend, I successfully checked a few things off my list of many to-dos.  One of which, was downloading some new music onto my iPod.  I downloaded some Iron & Wine, some Taylor Swift, the new "Cowboy Casanova" by Carrie Underwood, some Greg Laswell and...the Miley "Party in the USA" song (yes I feel somewhat sheepish about this purchase).  Well, the song that I downloaded that I keep playing over and over again is "Off I Go" by Greg Laswell.  You might recognize it from last year's season finale episode of Grey's Anatomy.

Here it is if you want to take a listen:

I can't wait for his next show in Seattle!

Love and Basketball. by orange

another sports movie...however with a fantastic love story: Love and Basketball.

If you grew up in the late 80s/90s and are a woman, I'd be surprised if you don't remember the scene where the couple in the movie finally make the move from friends to more after prom. The song from that scene is "This Woman's Work" by Maxwell.

Well one of my favorite artists Greg Laswell just (as in today) released a new EP called Covers. In this album he covers this song. See below for the comparison of them. (oh and the Maxwell video gives a fantastic montage of the movie!)

The husband asked me which version of the song I like better...and I just can't choose. The song by Maxwell just brings back how much I heart the movie, but I love Greg's voice and how he's changed the song. Purchase the cover here.

Enjoy!!
