Shoe Briefcase. by orange

Who knew that some shoes are delivered mission impossible style in a briefcase? I didn't know this until last Friday.

One of my co-workers was recently perusing thru some magazines, when she saw "5 inch heels; heel in the shape of the Empire State Building." There was a picture besides the bold statement, she liked what she saw so she ordered a pair. A week or so passes and a briefcase arrives.

Unfortunately, she wasn't expecting the glitz on the heel so she is returning them.  My first question was, can you keep the briefcase?

weekend shopping. by orange

This weekend was filled with a little bit of everything...double date night on Friday with violet and J., date night with the husband Saturday night, errands, running, cleaning, pedicure and shopping.  Oh and I can't forget, my favorite, work.  Which really I should be doing now...but posting is way more fun.

A bit of what I found while I was out and about shopping in downtown Seattle and West Seattle.

weekend hibernation. by orange

toys for a big kid. by orange

so even though i work in large corporate office (Starbucks) and have a somewhat serious title (Senior Recruiter) i still sometimes feel like a big kid playing in an adult's world. case in point - i need toys and doo-dads to keep me happy at work. i blame this partly on my line of work. as a recruiter my job has me spend a lot of time on the phone doing interviews. i mean, hours on the phone...thus things to occupy my hands during these long conversations can be handy at times.

as it's sunday and i'm here, in cube land, rather than outside enjoying the sunshine my little work things definitely are appreciated. so much so i thought i'd share some of there fun-ness here.

here's what keeps me smiling (in addition to my awesome co-workers):

bouncy ball filled with moving orange glitter

fun paperweight. do i need a paperweight? no...but i thought it was pretty

dwight squeeze ball thing. obviously fun to scrunch up.

happy hour clock! always points to 5pm (thank you violet)
little monster squeeze thing. he has googily eyes - enough said.
fun pink pen. squeeze the top and big yellow bubbles come out.

hmmm...i obviously like to squeeze things at work. does that mean something?

Work Day Song. by orange

Ever wake up and not want to go to work? Yes, shockingly it happens!! Well this morning I was in that pleasant mood and was surprised when a song shook it right out of me (or at least until I sat down at my desk and viewed my inbox). The song was...

Mat Kearney - Fire and Rain (from his NEW album: City of Black and White)

Click here to listen to part of the song from Amazon.com. Go to #9 and you can get a taste.

Click on this video to see Mat talk about three songs from the new album. The chat about 'Fire and Rain' starts at about 0:52 or so. Hearing him talk some about the song makes the lyrics come to life.

Fire and Rain Lyrics

I heard you were back in town,
I heard you were coming 'round,
Trying to get off the ground,
From every road you went down,

I walked down to your street,
I could still feel the old heat,
If you're burning on empty,
I'll be holding a golden ring,

Cause hey hey they don't know you like I do,
I'd wait for the whole world to show you,
Maybe we're not,
Not that gone,

Do you ever think about me,
Do you ever call my name,
Ask me now I'll give you the reasons,
My love will not fade,
Through the fire and rain,
The fire and rain,

I'll meet you half way,
If you're coming the long,
Don't care what the people say,
Of the prodigal runaway,

Cause hey hey they don't know you like I do,
I'd wait for the whole world to show you,
Maybe we're not,
Not that gone,

Do you ever think about me,
Do you ever call my name,
Ask me now I'll give you the reasons,
My love will not fade,
Through the fire and rain,
The fire and rain,

You said goodbye I'm gone,
Oh it hurts to hold on,
If you settled your score,
(and you know and you know),
Pick you up off the floor,

Do you ever think about me,
Do you ever call my name,
Ask me now I'll give you the reasons,
My love,
Do you ever think about me,
Do you ever call my name,
Ask me now I'll give you the reasons,
My love will not fade,
Through the fire and rain,
The fire and rain,
Through the fire and rain,
The fire and rain.

thank you husband for introducing me to the song!

typical sunday. by orange

so i mentioned in a previous post i was hoping for naps and movies this sunday; well i got one of those.

here is the sunday rundown:

slept in...so nice. no this is not the husband and i. we don't have nearly as nice pjs.

pilates - sadly i did not look this good.

nap time! after an 1hr long pilates session, it happened immediately upon arriving home.
why don't we have official nap time during the week?

it was spring cleaning time! again, sadly, this is the not the husband and i. they are way too cheery about house cleaning to be us.

yes, i am reading twilight. i feel a tad sheepish in mentioning this.

a concerted attempt at studying (i'm taking a class to become a pHR - "professional in HR")

this studying left me...well...napping again. oops!

another attempt at studying

still made me nap.

to cap the day off - some working. ick.

ummm...i napped 3 times today! in addition to sleeping in. hmmm....
