Love and Basketball. by orange

another sports movie...however with a fantastic love story: Love and Basketball.

If you grew up in the late 80s/90s and are a woman, I'd be surprised if you don't remember the scene where the couple in the movie finally make the move from friends to more after prom. The song from that scene is "This Woman's Work" by Maxwell.

Well one of my favorite artists Greg Laswell just (as in today) released a new EP called Covers. In this album he covers this song. See below for the comparison of them. (oh and the Maxwell video gives a fantastic montage of the movie!)

The husband asked me which version of the song I like better...and I just can't choose. The song by Maxwell just brings back how much I heart the movie, but I love Greg's voice and how he's changed the song. Purchase the cover here.

Enjoy!!

TBTL and Miracle Movie. by orange

who doesn't love a feel good sports movie? ie:

- Remember The Titans (oh Sunshine!)
- The Sandlot
- The Mighty Ducks
- A League of Their Own
- Rudy
- The Rookie

and...

Miracle. Miracle tells the true story of Herb Brooks (played by Kurt Russell), the player-turned-coach who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory over the seemingly invincible Russian squad.

Well this week on the husband's favorite radio show (now podcast) of all time: TBTL (Too Beautiful To Live), showcased a 4 year old who fell in love with one of the main clencher scenes. Where Kurt delivers a motivating speech to his team before they take the victory. Check it out below. Too funny. The suit, the intonation, the accent - the kid is dead on!

Herb Brooks' pre-game pep talk before the famous 1980 "Miracle" game against the Soviet Union. as performed by "Rizzo" (4 yrs old)

after a rough, long day at work - this was the perfect pick me up.
